Apple has long been rumoured to launch the successor to the popular iPhone SE, presumably called iPhone SE 2020 or iPhone 9. The original iPhone SE was launched back in 2016 as an affordable iPhone that had a pretty solid run in emerging markets like India for many years. After Apple discontinued the iPhone SE in 2018, rumours began about a possible successor. After two years of speculations and reports, it finally seems that Apple may launch the new iPhone SE this year. In fact, the company may announce the budget iPhone any day now.
The 2020 iPhone SE aka iPhone 9 is expected to yet again come with an affordable price tag to help Apple increase its presence in price-sensitive markets like India. While the original iPhone SE was designed based on the iPhone 5S, the upcoming iPhone SE 2020 is expected to look similar to the iPhone 8. Here's a quick roundup of everything we know about the iPhone SE 2020 from its launch date to specifications.

When is iPhone SE 2020 launching?

Several reports in recent weeks suggested that Apple would launch the 2020 iPhone SE in March. But the coronavirus pandemic may have delayed Apple's plans, which is why we now expect the phone to go official in April. In fact, the company was expected to announce the phone on April 3rd, but this seemed to be a false alarm. As it stands now, the 2020 iPhone SE launch date is still unclear, and Apple will likely quietly announce the phone soon.

2020 iPhone SE price

According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the 2020 iPhone SE price could be set at $399 (approx Rs 30,000). This would make it the most affordable iPhone to launch in recent years, which may be particularly attractive for consumers in price-sensitive markets like India.

New iPhone SE will look like iPhone 8

The upcoming iPhone SE aka iPhone 9 is expected to look similar to the iPhone 8. This means expect an iPhone with thick bezels on the top and bottom of the display and the old Touch ID fingerprint sensor. The back of the iPhone SE successor may sport a glass panel and support wireless charging. We also expect to see a single rear camera on the top left corner.
THE 2020 IPHONE SE WILL COME WITH AN OLD-SCHOOL DESIGN
The 2020 iPhone SE will come with an old-school design compared to Apple's recent high-end iPhones that offer near bezel-less displays, wide notch and Face ID instead of Touch ID.

iPhone SE aka iPhone 9 specifications

From what recent reports tell us, the 2020 iPhone SE will come with some of the same hardware as the 2019 iPhone 11 series. This means the affordable iPhone should be powered by the A13 Bionic. Since the phone is expected to launch with chunky bezels, we expect the display to be around 4.7-inch, which is pretty small compared to today's standard. That being said, the original iPhone SE offered a 4-inch display, so it would still be an upgrade of sorts.
The 2020 iPhone SE will likely feature an LCD panel. According to a recent 9to5Mac report, the iPhone will launch in three storage variants - 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. The report adds that the new iPhone SE will be available in white, black and PRODUCT (Red) colour options. The handset should sport a single 12MP camera on the back.
